Underwater Photography

Guest Speaker Steve talked to us about his work, his dive shop and his love of underwater photography. Seeing his images was really great as I have been wanting to do a dive course for years!

-Cameras range from cheap cameras all the way through to expensive dslr housings.
- live view makes it easier to see through the mask
- be prepared to trash your camera!
- Problems;
- light drop off
- murky water
- can't take photos from distance, loose visability and particles get in the way

Lenses:
- Telephoto or wide angle, automatic focus doesn't always work as it focuses on particles

Lighting
- Artificial lighting is needed as red wavelengths cant get through so everything is blue!
- Particles reflect with use of flash underwater so the lights need to be to the side of the subject.
